Retail sales of dishwashers posted a 14% increase in volume terms to reach 245,000 units

During 2012, retail sales of dishwashers posted a 14% increase in volume terms to reach 245,000 units. During the recession, sales of dishwashers experienced a strong drop in sales, recording 49% volume sales decline in 2009. Dishwashers witnessed the first signs of recovery only in the second quarter of 2012; however, the rebound in growth was not as sudden as the decline during the time of economic recession. Dishwashers also benefit from low penetration rates, at under 2%

Sales of dishwashers took off in 2012 thanks to rising disposable income combined with changing consumer habits. Among other things, a decreasing amount of time for basic household tasks has driven many Brazilians to invest in time-saving devices. Dishwashers also benefit from low penetration rates, at under 2% in 2012, and the fact that fewer maids are available in large urban areas as the Brazilian economy continues to provide strong employment.
